Reunion Politics
In all, politics on the island of Reunion is a simple matter with much of the island’s affairs being handled by the French government. Occasionally, there is some problems between the lower and upper classes of the island, however, these political tensions do not last very long.
Reunion is governed by French law and its constitution is the same as the French constitution. The island’s conventional name is the Department of Reunion. The island doesn’t have its own flag and uses the French flag. The island’s capital is Saint-Denis, and the island is divided into four arrondissements, 24 communes and 47 cantons.
All those over the age of 18 are allowed to vote.The island celebrates the French national holiday of Bastille Day on July 14, commemorating the French Revolution. There is not a lot of discontent on the island of Reunion.
